Voice of Goa
the semi-finals of Voice of Goa, sponsoured by Kingfisher was held at Kesarval , verna this evening. 80 participants took part. Judges were Sonia,Teo,Asley,Linda.

Getting set for IFFI
The preparations for the International Film Festival of India 2006 have began maybe a little too late but hopefully Panaji will wear a better look. This is the third time Goa hosts IFFI. It will be a right decision to plan your visit to Goa during this Festival time.

Martins Corner, Betalbatim
Martins Corner, is a Goan restaurant situated in a coastal village of Betalbatim, between Colva and Majorda.It receives quite a crowd during the day too , so it is always advisable to be early. The live music provides a warm blanket of vacation fun , which at times may prompt you to shake your leg at the dance floor.
Mrs Carfina with her three sons, Pobre, Jose, Bonny have come a long way from what used to be a small eatout serving goan delicacies like sorpotel, aad mass to name a few.The sea food is simply splendid and the ambiance is just right to enjoy your Dinner. The famous master blaster Sachin Tendulkar frequents this place when in Goa, and even has a dish named after him.
Cooking in earthern vessels give a different flavour.
Some of the most preferred goan dishes like pork sorpotel, pork vindalo, aad mas, prawn curry, solantulem are best cooked in KUNNE( goan earthern vessel).

NATIONAL INTEGRATION SINGING COMPETITION HELD AT BETALBATIM
NATIONAL INTEGRATION SINGING COMPETITION
AT BETALBATIM
On 2nd October, 2006, the Social Club of Betalbatim witnessed the Gandhi Jayanti Programme headed by the President of the Social Club, Mrs. Clara Cota. The highlight of this programme was the National Integration Group singing competition which was held at the Secondary School level. A total of 9 schools participated in this event. Among the dignitaries present for the function were the chief guest, Honorable Minister of agriculture and animal husbandry, Mr. Mickey Pacheco, the guest of honor Prof. Nelly Rodrigues, member of Zilla Parishad and the Sarpanch of Betalbatim, Mr. Miguel Pereira. The members of the jury included Rev. Fr.Derrick Fernandes, Mr. Acacio Pereira and Mrs.Terezinha Furtado.
The programme commenced with the Dandi March which comprised of students shouting slogans to promote national integrity and unity among the people. The portrait of Mahatma Gandhi was garlanded. There were speeches, poetry recited and songs sung to commemorate the event. This was followed by the competition among the 9 schools. It was fascinating to see and hear the future citizens of India singing in their melodious voices about their nation. As the competition neared its end, Mrs. Clara Cota honored some of the handicapped people of the village by presenting them a small token. the prize distribution ceremony revealed that the 1st place was bagged by Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Navelim, followed by St. Anthony’s High School, Majorda, and lastly by St. Jude’s High School, Betalbatim. This event, which was compered by Ms Florence Rebello, finally wound up with the singing of the National Anthem.
