Recipe-Chocolate cake

Chocolate cake (for 2 kg)
Ingredients
10 eggs
300g sugar
Less than 300g maida (first add cocoa pd in the weighing pan and then add maida to measure total 300g)
5 tbsp cocoa pd
2(5/6) tsp vanilla essence
2 (5/6) tsp baking pd

Sieve maida, cocoa pd and baking pd at least 3 times. Grease a cake tin. Dust it with the sieved flour.Separate eggs. Beat egg whites till stiff. Add egg yolks 1 at a time. Beat till creamy. Add sugar little at a time and beat till dissolves. Continue until all sugar has dissolved. Add vanilla essence. Preheat the oven at 180 deg. Fold in the sieved flour. Pour into greased container and bake till done(abt ½ hr).

For butter icing
500g icing sugar
125g margarine
125g butter
Cocoa pd for chocolated icing

For melted chocolate icing
120 ml fresh cream
120 g dark chocolate

Method for icing the cake: turn the cake upside down on a board. Separate the cake into 2 halves.Mix 1 tbsp sugar with 1 mug water and spray on both layers. Apply chocolate butter icing on bottom layer and sandwich the cake with the top layer. Spray the whole cake with the sugar water again. Heat cream. Put off the flame. Add chopped chocolate and allow to melt. Pour over the cake and leave to set in refrigerator. Finish the decoration with butter icing.

St JUDE’S HIGH SCHOOL steals limelight

St JUDE’S HIGH SCHOOL steals limelight.

The Social Club of Betalbatim witnessed the Gandhi Jayanti celebration headed by its President Mrs. Clara Cota. The highlight of the programme was Mando Singing Competition among nine high schools. Among the dignitaries present at eh function were the Chief guest Prof. Nelly Rodrigues.Ex Chairperson of South Goa Zilla Parishad and present member of the same, Guest of Honour Rev. Fr. Ubaldo D’cunha, the Parish Priest of Betalbatim and Manager of St. Jude’s High School, Betalbatim. The function was preceded by garlanding of the portrait of the Father of the nation by a senior member of the club Shri. Rui Rodrigues, and a speech on the life of Mahatma Gandhi by Kum. Nikita Afonso. The programme was inter-spaced by felicitation of seven physically handicapped people with cash burses at the hands of the President Mrs. Clara Cota, donated by her in memory of her late husband Dr. Jose L.Cota, Ex.Founder and President of the club. Certificates in tailoring conducted by the club were awarded to the successful students by Mrs. Blanche Afonso, the teacher of the same.

St. Jude’s High School, Betalbatim won the 1st place in then mando singing competition. The 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Regina Martirum High School,Assolna and Saviour of the World High school , Loutolim, respectively. Prof. Nelly Rodrigues praised the club for successfully conducting the competition and also a plethora of Socio-cultural & sports activities towards the enrichment of the village. Earlier the gathering was welcomed by President Mrs. Clara Cota. Shri Menino Cota introduced the guest and the panel of jury consisting of Rev.Fr. Bernand Cota, Prof. Roy Gomes and Shri Acasio Pereira. Shri Ciriaco Cota, the Treasurer proposed the vote of thanks. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes were donated by Mrs. Nalini Alemao in memory of her late husband Shri Fidelis Alemao and Mrs.Filomena Afonso donated a rolling trophy in memory of her late father Prof. Emeliano Afonso and her late brother Shri oscar Afonso. Shri ferdy mendes compered the function.
